Painting from observation has been a part of my practice for almost 40 years. The complexity in an urban scene has drawn me to these subjects. Adjusting tones and marks create depth while maintaining an active and expressive surface. 

The Main Street Amtrak station in Richmond provides a great view of the layers of buildings in our city. The public space and workers are hospitable and respectful of quiet engagement.
