I used to visit this legendary pool hall and always found a few people inside playing a game. Plans to sell the business fell apart when COVID hit. I treasure this image from inside, looking out through the famous sign.
Artist Statement
Following her careers in television journalism and law enforcement, Penny A Parrish is now pursuing a different passion: photography. She retired from the FBI Academy in 2012, and is now active in the local arts scene.
Penny enjoys the solitude of working alone with a camera. She is inspired by simple scenes: the colors of our seasons, the lines and angles of buildings and abstract or unique images. Penny, who moved to Virginia from Minnesota, is intrigued by the history of our area and the opportunities it creates for a photographer. Penny also does her best to “repurpose” old frames, giving them a second life with many of her photos. Most of her images are captured by a Canon camera or her iPhone. She has won many national and local awards for her work.
