We offer a variety of classes for adults. Each class gives students the opportunity to learn at their own level and pace. Beginner or advanced, our art classes are just right for any eager student! Our adult classes offer watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphite, colored pencils or even mixed media and are ongoing through out the year at our convenient west end location.
Workshops - Each month from September to May we offer various one day workshops by award winning artists/instructors including plein air, figure, portrait, still life, watercolor, color theory and much more. You do not have to be a student at For Art's Sake to participate. Just give us a call and we can get you signed up. We also offer week long plein air workshops domestically taught by our instructors.
Lectures - During the summer months we offer a lecture/demo series on Tuesday nights. Set back with a glass of wine and watch our instructors create a masterpiece in two hours or listen to a lecture on a chosen topic.

Peggy is a representational, landscape, and still-life painter. Her oil and watercolor paintings are known for their pure, peaceful colors and their fresh approach. Her subject matter is drawn from a lifetime enjoying, observing and recording nature. The majority of her landscapes are painted “en plein air” with it’s challenges of transporting gear, avoiding bugs and wild life and overcoming varied weather conditions. Peggy attempts to capture the essence of a scene within two to three hours, before the light moves and the shadows change. Many paintings require her to return additional days at the same time and hopefully under the same environmental conditions to complete them. Others paintings are completed in her studio from her field studies and paintings. Peggy is a native of Richmond, Virginia and a third generation artist. She began drawing, painting, and sculpting at a very early age and held her first major exhibition at the age of 15. Peggy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has trained under several local and national teachers. Her career includes many years managing her business Peggy M. Davis Fine Art, and enjoying teaching adult and teen art lessons, as well as practicing as a commercial interior designer and serving as an executive director for a nonprofit. Paintings and reproductions by Peggy are included in commercial and residential collections and have been displayed in commercial spaces and galleries including: For Arts Sake Gallery, Studio, & Framing. Works are available for purchase on the artist’s website and in juried art shows, such as Arts in the Park and Arts Around the Lake at the University of Richmond. “My greatest love is to be engulfed in nature and reflect in my work a moment in time that has caught my eye and moved my spirit.”
