Winner of the 2014 Helen Hayes Award for “Best New Play” is loosely based on Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull. This play will preview on January 7th, opening on the 8th and run through January 30th at Richmond Triangle Players - 1300 Altamont Ave, Richmond 23230. ABOUT THE PLAY
An exquisitely narcissistic family of directors, actors, and admirers warily orbit, swoop, dive and devour one another as they grapple with the fatal truth that life goes on, no matter what. Loosely inspired by Chekhov’s classic play, The Seagull, this is a powerful, sharply contemporary re-imagining of the eternal struggle between artists and those who both inspire and are destroyed by them. Posner has created a unique metatheatrical experience that swings wildly between farcical hilarity, searing heartbreak and an intensely intimate exploration of the thin line that separates audience and actor. One of the hottest new plays in American theatre! Adult Language.
Aaron Posner’s irreverent Stupid F**king Bird was commissioned by Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., where it premiered in 2013. The play was a huge critical success and was immediately brought back by popular demand in 2014.
