Systems (like relationships between humans and the natural, mutualistic, interconnected system of trees and lichen) only function correctly with proper balance of power. In this piece from a series, an imbalance of power has separated 2 entities. But, one can see the attempt at reconciliation.

Artist Statement:

Exploration of the Natural State of Arkansas and other wilderness guides my forms, textures, and movement as I perceive patterns from cellular to flora to figure to landscape to cosmos. Through ceramics, I coalesce my ideas of power, balance, equality, and symbiosis (and the lack thereof), and how these shape systems and relationships among humans and with the Earth. My forms welcome viewers with just enough familiarity to establish a safe interaction, then challenge viewers to question reality in hopes that we can see what we have in common, then evolve to improve it together.
