Artist Bio: 

My paintings present corridors of vibrant color which enable the viewer to travel within the composition. The process begins with gestural mark making to establish movement and unity. Atop this preliminary blueprint I intuitively apply layers of oil paint mixed with cold wax medium until an architectural foundation is constructed. Each subsequent layer interacts with the last creating a complex visual history.  Unconventional tools like bamboo skewers, twigs, and whisk brooms incise the surface revealing that history with lush textures. The challenge awaits as this mining can redirect the composition or clarify it. Editing is integral to my work adding and subtracting shapes, colors, and textures. This has the power to alter the dynamic. My continual engagement with the layers and the corridors they form encourage the viewer to delve deeper into each painting and explore their nuances.
