ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Richmond Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall is a treasured part of Quill’s season, and a truly unique experience in Richmond. Come see ‘Shakespeare Under the Stars’, where we perform some of the Bard’s finest work in the courtyard of an authentic Tudor home built in the 15th century and brought over from Lancashire, England in 1926. There’s nothing else like it on the East coast!

THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE

The grounds open at 6pm for pre-show picnickers. Feel free to bring a blanket and a picnic dinner, and enjoy the beautiful gardens surrounding Agecroft, as well as the spectacular view from the Bluff. As you dine, members of Lord Moxley’s Players, the Festival Young Company, will stroll the grounds and entertain you with Shakespearean monologues, sonnets, and songs. The museum is not open for tours at this time. Please note: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the grounds.

NEW THIS YEAR! Sara Lou’s SnoBalls will be onsite for every performance selling New Orleans Style SnoBalls. Additionally, Garden Grove Brewery of Carytown will be onsite for the second weekend of each show pouring a custom beer, created exclusively for the Festival! A portion of sales from these vendors will benefit Quill Theatre and Agecroft Hall.~

This crazy comedy is an irreverent, high-speed roller coaster ride through the Bard’s plays. For the third year in a row, join our madcap trio as they weave their wacky way through Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies in one wild night that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter.
